Fredric Effects Utility Perkolator Fuzz Pedal is a tweaked version of the fabled Interfax Harmonic Percolator, an oddball fuzz/overdrive/distortion pedal from the 1970s popularised by Steve Albini of Shellac.

The Utility Perkolator differs from their vintage correct recreation pedal (the Fredric Effects Harmonic Percolator), it uses higher gain, lower leakage Russian Germanium transistors and a low pass filter which only removes the high end hisses and glitches associated with the Harmonic Percolator, giving it a considerably lower noise floor. These tweaks result is a pedal that has a tighter and more controllable effect which is still capable of producing the classic Harmonic Percolator sound. Fredric Effects have also added a switchable ring modulation circuit for splattery octave effects and internal DIP switches on the circuit board to remove the low pass filter if desired.

The pedal has a diode clipping switch to choose between three different clipping options adding versatility over the original Interfax pedal, you can choose between Silicon clipping (for a smoother sound), Germanium clipping (like the original for a grittier sound) or no clipping which produces an open more traditional overdrive sound with increased volume. Featuring modern pedalboard friendly top mounted jacks, DC power input jack, LED indicator and normal rotary pots instead of the original sliders.
