Description
Fender's The Bends Compressor Pedal is a studio quality stompbox for guitar and bass, it tames wild volume spikes without altering your tone and features a blend knob to keep a natural sound.
Dynamics are a crucial part of playing music, when controlled they bring music to life but uneven playing can ruin a performance, a compressor smooths volume jumps by making quiet sounds louder and loud sounds quieter, adding compression also helps increase sustain when using less amplifier gain, which can result in a clearer, more articulate tone that still has power and bite. The Drive control affects how much compression is applied to the signal and the LED jewel indicator will change from white to pink when compression is occurring (a good rule of thumb for a natural sound is to set the drive control to the point at which the LED changes colour with loud playing but remains solid white with soft to medium playing). The Recovery control adjusts how much time it takes for the compressor to return to the original gain amount once playing has stopped (longer settings tend to sound more natural, shorter settings tend to sound more exciting). The Blend control lets you mix in the dry/unaffected signal to maintain the natural pick attack and feel of your clean tone which keeps a realistic sound while giving you the benefit of added sustain and controlled volume.
Fender has put some clever circuitry in to The Bends Compressor with dual internal audio paths for low noise and internal control for a very fast response time. The pedal features LED lit knobs that make viewing the current settings very easy in a dark environment (switchable on/off), a magnetically latched battery door at the front of the pedal makes changing batteries super quick, no screwdriver required, and a low battery indicator LED on the front of the door lights up to show when the battery needs replacing.
