Description

Fender's The Pinwheel is a rotary speaker emulator pedal creating the classic Leslie sound and their own Vibratone effect, with switchable slow/fast speeds and their unique sensitivity control, stereo in & outs and selectable guitar and keyboard voicing.

There's on board overdrive to simulate the tube amp in the original Leslie with a Drive, Tone and Level knob to adjust the sound. The Mode toggle switch lets you change between three different rotary speaker styles: Mode 1 is voiced like the familiar 122 style twin rotor speaker cabinet, Mode 2 is modelled after a 145 style speaker cabinet with a less pronounced low end and works well with both keys and guitars and Mode 3 is based on Fender's Vibratone speaker cabinet which created its unique sound by utilising a rotating baffle in front of the speaker. The Fast and Slow knobs set the speed of the modulation in their respective modes and the Ramp control adjusts the amount of time it takes to speed up or slow down between the fast and slow settings for realistic rotary speaker cabinet sounds. You can switch between the speeds with the Slow/Fast footswitch (holding the footswitch will give a brake mode, stopping the rotary effect but keeping the drive sound) or the Sensitivity control, this automatically switches between slow and fast based on the dynamics of your playing (softer playing will stay on the slow mode and louder playing will ramp up to the fast mode), the control knob sets the threshold of the change (the LED by the control will light up when your playing passes the threshold) and an on/off switch for this function is on the top of the pedal.

On the side of the pedal is an input jack for an external footswitch or TRS expression pedal, a footswitch lets you remotely switch between the slow and fast settings (replacing the on board switch, no brake mode) and an expression pedal changes the speed from heel to toe with the limits set by the Slow Fast knobs (brake function is available through the pedal footswitch). There's a Voicing switch on the top of the pedal to ensure both guitar and keyboard players get the most out of the pedal and Fender's The Pinwheel also features LED lit knobs that make viewing the current settings very easy in a dark environment (switchable on/off) and stereo input and output jacks.
