Description
This Fretboard Chip Stopper helps to minimise chips during refretting. Start by carefully lifting the end of the fret with fret pullers, once the fret crown lifts off the fretboard, slide the chip stopper between the fret crown underside and the fretboard surface (the slot in the chip stopper fits around the fret tang), lift a little more of the fret up and then slide the stopper in a little more, repeat this process across from end of the fret to the other keeping the stopper pushed under the fret as far as it will go and always using the puller against the surface of the chip stopper. When removing frets this way the fret puller pushes against the wide surface of the chip stopper which pushes down on the surface of the fretboard right up to the edge of the fret slot, this helps to minimise chip that the fret tang barbs create as they come out of the fret slot. The steel is flexible enough to conform to the radius of the fretboard.
