Audio Taper Linear TaperDescription
Alpha Potentiometers are known for giving great value and are one of the most common potentiometers used in guitar electronics circuits. These are mini size pots that are useful for fitting in smaller or cramped control cavities, the 250K Ohms resistance gives a warmer tone and is traditionally used with single coil pickups (Stratocaster style guitars etc.), the pot comes in linear taper and audio taper with linear traditionally being used for tone controls and audio taper for volume controls. These are metric spec potentiometers with an 8 mm threaded shaft and coarse 18 spline knob mounting, the metric size is commonly found on guitars made in Japan and East Asia (Epiphone, Squier, Ibanez, Schecter, PRS SE etc.). To use metric knobs that have a set screw simply line up the set screw with the split in the shaft and tighten the screw. Mounting hardware is included (these pots may have a locator tab on the top side of the pot, clip this off before fitting).
