This Hosco Lightning Bar Compensated Wraparound Tailpiece is in the style found on many Gibson guitars like the Les Paul Junior, LP Special, Melody Maker, SG Junior, SG special etc.
The staggered compensation pattern improves the intonation of the strings over the plain non-compensated tailpiece (modern compensation pattern for plain/unwound G string) and in addition there are allen/hex screws behind the bridge posts that can be adjusted to move the whole bridge backwards and forwards and also slant it to add more intonation room to heavy bass strings. The bridge is supplied with 8 mm metric threaded bridge posts and body anchors/bushings and fits the standard 82 mm (3 1/4") post spacing used for wraparound tailpieces. To install on guitars with imperial threaded bridge posts (Gibson USA guitars) either use your original bridge posts or we stock imperial Gibson style tailpiece studs separately.

Improved intonation
I put this bridge onto a Gibson Les Paul special which came with a standard uncompensated bridge. I tried a few other bridges which didn’t look or sound right. This enabled me to keep the vintage aesthetics of the original bridge with spot on intonation without having to have the bridge set at a crazy angle. This bridge combined with a set of locking Faber tailpiece studs sounds great. Please note due to the lightning bar top the strings sit higher so I had to pretty much have the bridge flat on the body to achieve a nice low action so bare that in mind if replacing a bridge that is already set low to the body, that you may struggle to achieve a low enough action. I am really please with this bridge, I could’ve spent a lot more, I think an official Gibson one is well over £150, and I don’t think there would be much difference in tone TBF

Made in Japan, much better tuning stability for my Yamaha AES
The standard wrap around bridge on my Yamaha AES500 did not properly compensate for 10-46 non-wound strings. This one does! Essential upgrade for Yamaha AES owners. I imagine good for Les Paul Studios as well?
