These Fender style Hosco Round Truss Rod Washers are used between the adjusting nut and the wood and can adjust how deep the truss rod nut sits on the truss rod. Washers can be useful as a temporary fix on a truss rod that is compressing the neck wood, if the wood compresses the nut can run out of threads on the rod to thread onto, so you run out of adjustment range before the rod has created the correct amount of relief, by putting a washer on the rod first it will move the nut back from the end of the threads and give you more tightening room.
