This Hosco Violin / Fiddle Tailpiece Fastener (or Tailgut Cord) is used to mount the tailpiece to the violin body.

The small knurled end nuts unscrew from plastic cord to allow you to pass each end through the tailpiece and then screw on to secure it and also allow you to adjust the length of the cord (and therefore distance from the tailpiece to the bridge), once each end is passed through the tailpiece a loop is formed in the cord which wraps around the endpin to keep the tailpiece fixed to the body (balanced by string tension). Fits standard 4/4 size violins.
