This Hosco Violin / Fiddle Ebony Saddle provides a hard bearing edge for the tailgut cord to rest against, protecting the softer spruce top.

Most of the shaping has been done, the softer curved side faces the backside/endpin of the violin to give a smooth path for the tailpiece fastener to travel across and round the endpin. Final shaping will be required to suit the violin you are working on, please note the measurements provided are approximate.
