Description

Keeley Electronics Noble Screamer ODR-1 gives you two classic analogue drives and the ability to blend between these drive circuits, giving you four overdrive pedals in one.

Imagine being able to combine your favourite parts of different overdrive and boost pedals in order to create new hybrid sounds, that is exactly what Keeley have engineered with the Noble Screamer. It’s a four in one pedal that gives you two very familiar drive circuits and two brand new amp like distortion tones that no one has used before. It’s almost like pedal modelling, except these are 100 % analogue circuits and you decide which tone control or clipping section you want to play through. These can be used to give your guitar a boost, pushing the front end of your amp, or to completely recreate the overdriven tone of a maxed out amp.

The pedal has a simple three knob configuration for Tone, Drive and Level. The Tone knob controls the overall EQ setting of the pedal as you’ve made selections with the drive tones, while the Gain knob sets the overall amount of effect introduced. The Level knob controls the overall output level of affected tone, allowing you to reduce volume for bedroom play, boost volume for solos, or to balance with your original output level, thus introducing the effect without major changes in perceived volume for smoother textural transitions.

Two mini external switches select the tone of the pedal and select between the two analogue drive circuits. Giving you both styles of diode clipping makes this a versatile pedal to have at your disposal. On the left side, the Tone control switch allows you to choose between a broad spectrum or a narrow focus filter control. With the tone switch up and in the OD position you will hear a ‘spectrum’ type of tone control that can go from a flat EQ to an EQ with a boost in the treble and bass response. If the tone switch is in the TS position you have a low pass filter that rolls off the high frequencies only. On the right side, you can select which style of diode clipping is utilised. If the right side Drive switch is in the OD position it features hard diode clipping which gives you an edgier, more aggressive tone, or in the TS position, soft diode clipping is used to give you an effect like a tube amplifier which is softly overdriven.

Whether playing through the time tested classic overdrive effects, or the inspiriting new hybrid tones, let your ears be the judge. Even with all these features the pedal remains a simple and easy to use three knob overdrive and can still be a set and forget drive. The Noble Screamer also has a new design feature, enabling swift changes between true bypass or buffered truly silent switching as you play. Simply hold down the foot switch to change quickly between the bypass settings. Their completely 'in house' built angled aluminium enclosure gives you a sleek look and durability for use on the road.

With sounds developed in the field and in their tone lab, the Keeley Noble Screamer Overdrive and Boost is entirely manufactured at Keeley Electronics in the USA and is the first in their new aluminium enclosure.
