Description

This Walrus Audio Fundamental Series Delay Pedal gives you the core sounds of repeated effects in a simple to use format.

Designed with three essential delay algorithms, you can set the pedal from clean digital feedback to analogue delay emulation, as well as reversing your trails. The simplified controls are friendly enough even if you’re new to effects pedals and are great if you prefer to focus on playing guitar with few select effects pedals. It boasts the tonal integrity to live on a professional's pedalboard. With three slider/faders for tweaking the sound incrementally and a three way switch for changing pedal modes, it boasts a surprising variety of customisable delayed effects.

With slider/fader style controls, the Time fader controls the rate of the delayed repeats (max delay time is one second) and Feedback control the number of repeats introduced into your signal. Mix controls the blend of the effect and the original ‘clean’ inputted signal. All the way to the left removes the effect, and all the way to the right outputs only the delay repeats, offering you a fully dry or wet effect.

The single slide switch allows you to change between three distinct delay algorithms:

  • Digital, a clean rhythmic delay into your signal, with transparent repeats
  • Analogue, filtered and slightly distorted delay, designed to replicate the characteristics of bucket brigade delay chips
  • Reverse, reverses the trails back into your signal, creating gentle melodies, or can push the pedal into reverse feedback overload

With its tap tempo mode you can customise your delay to fit the specific beat of your band or track. As a secondary function of the slide switch, you can also set the subdivision of the tapped in tempo to quarter note, dotted eighth or eighth. To enter tap mode, hold down the bypass stomp switch until you see the LED flashing. Once it is flashing, tap mode is engaged and the stomp switch will only work as a tap tempo until tap mode is disengaged. While tap mode is engaged, adjusting the program Slide Switch will only change the division of the tap control, and not the delay program. To disengage tap mode, hold down bypass again until you see the LED turn back to solid white. The pedal will remember the tempo you have tapped in until adjusted again by either the time control or another tempo is tapped in.

This delay pedal comes with a trails mode (active by default), to let your effected guitar sounds trail off and blend naturally. The option is also there to turn it off, to disengage trails mode, simply hold down the bypass stomp switch when applying power to the pedal and once the LED flashes it indicates that trails mode is turned off. To re-engage trails mode, repeat the process, and wait for the LED to turn dark. With trails mode inactive, the decay abruptly cuts off when you turn off the pedal, which may be useful for a more dramatic effect or for certain live settings (sudden calm after a cacophony of sound).

Designed and assembled at Walrus Audio headquarters in the USA, the Walrus Audio Fundamental Series Delay Pedal gives you simple and tweakable delay options, ready in a pedalboard friendly layout.
