Description

The Walrus Audio Fathom Multi Function Reverb Pedal is a feature rich reverb with four different customised reverb algorithms to choose from.

Easily go from a small room reverb to long, modulated trails dripping of ambient goodness, it can cover some serious sonic depth (hence the lone explorer sub graphic). The toggle switch adds options for low, medium and high levels of modulation effect to be introduced. Use the dampen knob to fine tune the tone of the reverb's decay, turning counterclockwise opens the filter and brightens the decay. A mix knob allows you to increase the level of reverb effect added, with a white line delineating equal parts dry and wet signal. Having this many tweakable reverb algorithms to easily access at your feet in a small pedal will enable you to swiftly create and shape new and exciting music.

The Fathom features four different algorithms:

  • Hall, a wide, open and vast with decay that ends with high frequency roll off. The X knob adjusts pre-delay
  • Plate, sounds like a full body reverb with a smooth decay. X knob adjusts pre-delay
  • Lo-fi, is a filtered reverb with decay ranging from warm to thin AM sounding radio. The X knob adjusts filter width
  • Sonar, is reverb fed with both a high and low octave with the ability to blend the octaves with the X knob

Featuring momentary functions to give you further interaction with the effects as you play. When the pedal is in off position, press and hold the bypass switch to temporarily activate the effect to add a moment of reverb. Releasing the switch turns the effect off immediately or press and hold the sustain switch while the pedal is on to hold the reverb decay for a dreamy ambient decrescendo. Choose to keep or cut off the reverb trails, to turn trails mode on or off, unplug the pedal and press and hold down the bypass switch for two seconds while plugging the pedal back in. When you press the sustain switch, the decay switch ramps up the reverb trail to maximum, creating a long dreamy reverb trail (like a submarine jet stream) and then ramps back down to the decay knob setting again when you let go.

It can be run in either trails or no trails mode. In trails mode, when you turn the pedal off, the reverb decay dies off naturally. In no trails mode, the decay is abruptly cut off when you turn the pedal off (useful for more shocking effects). To switch between either mode, hold down the bypass switch for two seconds while applying power to the pedal.

The Walrus Audio Fathom Multi Function Reverb is an excellent way to add some additional texture to your guitar line, on top of an excellent set of reverb effects.
