Description
The Walrus Audio Mako Series MKII: M1 High-Fidelity Modulation Machine Pedal is a stereo, multi-effect modulation pedal featuring six studio grade programs based on fan favourite modulation tones.
The M1 is an exceptionally powerful multi-function modulation machine with six fully customisable, studio quality programs: Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo, Vibrato, Rotary, and Filter. Each selection, indicated on the middle colour coded knob, has a wealth of options to tune, tweak, customize and save to one of nine onboard presets (128 with MIDI). A sound explorers delight, it features a dedicated lo-fi knob allowing you to mix various lo-fi parameters into every program. Add subtle movement and texture to float under your playing or make a massive statement with a thick swirling chorus to choppy panning tremolo. The M1 can be controlled via standard MIDI messages and boasts dedicated MIDI in and MIDI through jacks. Using MIDI, up to 128 settings can be saved and recalled, giving you an expansive control of tweaks. Any preset can be copied and placed into another preset slot. The sleek Mako series shark graphic is shown on the front of the pedal, swimming just below your feet as you play.
From the swirling, lush sounds of the 80’s chorus, to more subtle applications that give your tone a distinct flair, this is a hallmark for all kinds of modulation fans, offering limitless creative potential. Physical knobs let you control settings, while the backlit OLED screen with 128 x 32 pixels helps show your selections, even in low light scenarios. You can update the firmware though the Walrus Audio website, giving this pedal excellent future development potential. With complete BPM control, you can select specific tempos and read them out on the menu screen for chorus, phaser, tremolo and vibrato programs. This means you can match a specific tempo marking on a recording and will never having to guess what tempo your effect is set at. The Tap/Skip switch also has some secondary functions, allows you to momentarily engage a skipping effect, which sounds like a needle skipping on a record player. Press and hold to engage the effect to automatically repeat the last few milliseconds of audio until the switch is released. The length of audio repeated is determined by the current LFO rate. You can also set the tempo subdivision to, quarter, quarter note triplet, eighth note, dotted eighth note, and sixteenth note.
A global preferences menu enables you to set parameters like the display brightness option, firmware version and bypass modes, while a global sound preference menu lets you select preset slots and banks, the analogue/wet mix and output gain. With a huge number of parameters to tweak, a factory reset mode gives you the option to swiftly return to factory default settings, allowing you to compare available possibilities.
The revamped rotary and filter programs can be fully customised to your taste and playing style with the left encoder knob, for features like effect type, BPM, wave shape and more. The Left encoder offers creative control over key modulation parameters for each program, allowing you to creatively shape each modulation effect to taste. For more information on this fantastic pedal, head to the Walrus Audio website where you can download the full manual (which explains all the functions in detail) and features a video demo. Using MIDI, up to 128 settings can be saved and recalled, giving you an expansive control of tweaks. Any preset can be copied and placed into another preset slot.
With 128 included presets and lo-fi vintage charm packed into its dark blue anodised enclosure, the Walrus Audio Mako Series MKII: M1 will give you multiple effects to help you shape and craft unique sounding modulated guitar parts.
