Description

The Walrus Audio Mako Series MKII: R1 High-Fidelity Stereo Reverb Pedal gives you studio quality, multi-functional effects with, MIDI, momentary settings and more.

With six distinct programs based on fan favourite reverb sounds, players of all styles and genres will be able to find heaps of inspiration with the R1. Physical knobs let you control settings, while the backlit OLED screen with 128 x 32 pixels helps show your selections, even in low light scenarios. Three control knobs adjust the Decay, Pre-Delay and Mix of the delay selected, while using the encoder knobs, you'll be able to tweak and dial in your own completely unique reverb effects, from an intimate, small room subtle reverbs to huge, experimental euphoric sounds. Using MIDI, up to 128 settings can be saved and recalled, giving you an expansive control of tweaks. The sleek Mako series shark graphic is shown on the front of the pedal, swimming just below your feet as you play.

Six reverb programs give you the basis for your effect shaping creation:

  • SPRING emulates an excited spring reverb commonly found in tube amps with loads of transducing drip. Easily go from subtle to surf rock, or experiment with the decay knob to get more than average amounts of reverb not found in traditional amp spring reverb tanks
  • HALL provides you the acoustics of large live sound spaces like concert halls to arenas. Longer decays give you a massive wash of ambiance.
  • PLATE gives a smooth analogue plate reverb with nice even diffusion for the classic plate sound that you know and love
  • BFR is a no holds barred, big reverb. This is more than a giant arena reverb, it's a hall style reverb with rich and lush decay making it sound like you’re playing inside a vast cavern
  • RFRCT program brings lovely, charming, and glitch like textures hovering over a controllable amount of diffusion. The Rate control for this effect set how often new grains are introduced, while Depth controls the amount of modulation applied to the grains. The Time control sets the delay time of the grains and the size control sets the size of the grains being pulled from the buffer. The diffuse control allows you to change the grains from dry sounding and disconnected to washed out in a wet reverb mix
  • AIR gives you larger diffused reverb with a shimmer, as well as a distinct clarity to its decay. Adjust the shimmer control to really lean into that high octave sound that ambient style artists have come to love over the decades. Explore slow building complimentary sounds that don’t get in the way of your playing

Momentary functions on the right Sus/Latch footswitch allow you to momentarily sustain the current reverb sound for as long as you press and hold it. You can also latch the sound by clicking this switch on and clicking again to unlatch. Due to the powerful architecture of the R1, anytime you sustain a reverb, your guitar signal is rerouted through an identical reverb so anything you play over the sustained sound will have the same reverb applied to it that was sustained.

With the ability to save your favourite settings, the pedal keeps things simple by organising your saves into banks. The first nine presets are accessible from the pedal in Banks A, B, and C and can be simply cycled through three at a time by pressing both stomp switches simultaneously. Any preset can be copied and placed into another preset slot.

A global preferences menu enables you to set parameters like the display brightness option, MIDI channel selection, firmware version and bypass modes, while a global sound preference menu lets you select preset slots and banks, the analogue/wet mix and output gain. With a huge number of parameters to tweak, a factory reset mode gives you the option to swiftly return to factory default settings, allowing you to compare available possibilities. For more information on this fantastic pedal, head to the Walrus Audio website where you can download the full manual (which explains all the functions in detail) and features a video demo.

With 128 included presets and high fidelity inspirational reverb tones packed into its dark anodised enclosure, the Walrus Audio Mako Series MKII: R1 will give you multiple studio quality reverb effects to help you craft unique guitar parts.
